A MATCH FOR CAR RENTIER. By Telegraph—press Assn.—Copyright. NEW YORK, August 19. It is announced chat Carpentier will box Lewinsky hero on October 12 in a match of fifteen rounds. Both fighters must weigh in at 175 pounds three hours before tho bout, which will decide the world’s light-heavy-weight championship. It is understood Carpentier will leave Franco for the United States on October 4. Both men will [ train in the vicinity of New York City. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. NEXT THURSDAY’S TOURNAMENT. Patrons are reminded that tho box plan for the Taranaki Boxing Associations tournament, which takes place in the Empire Theatre, New Plymouth next Thursday night, opened at Collier’s this morning. Atembers who have not yet received their passes should apply to the secretary for tho same :.t once. The amateur bouts should produce some very good boxing, as some wellknown and tried boxers are taking part. Li tho bantams, AVnlly Harris will bo matched against J. James. In tho welter-weight, R. Land will meet P. O’Carroll ,of Inglewood. In the heavyweight, two splendid boxers will try conclusions, C. F. Clifton (of New Plymouth) and L. AUAsoy (of Lcpperton). AV. G. Coornbe, of Oaonui, will also be 'matched against a well-known boxer. The big bout of tho evening will be the professional match of 15 rounds (for a purse of 70 sovereigns) between G. Richardson and F. Brown. Mr, Tim Tracey, of "Wellington, will be the referee.
