AMALGAMATION OP BANKS

LONDON, Aug. 19. The. English, Scottish, and Australian Bank has provisionally agreed to purchase tho controlling interest in the London Bank of Australia. Ordinary shareholders in the London Rank will receive five £25 shares in tho Eng- , Ifsh, Scottish, and Australian Bank for every nine £22 10s shares_ held, with £1 cash for each share. Preference shareholders have the option to take the same proportion of,shares with £2 cash, or a payment in cash of £l3 for each share. Mr. Wren takes charge of both banks in Australia, and Mr. Janion will be in charge of both London banks.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asln. FARMERS’ CO-OP. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society report: At Inglewood on Wednesday, August 18. we report a fair entry of siJ&ro cattle. Light cows were in good demand, best sorts bringing to £8 10s, others £6 5s to £B. The demand for yearling cattle was not keen, these selling at late rates. In the dairy pens bidding was free on anything showing quality and-close up, Jersey cross 'heifers bringing to £2O, others £ls to £l7 10s; backward heifers were not in demand.
