THE MURRAY VACANCY.

PROPOSED EXPEDIENTS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received Aug. 23, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY. Aug. 23. Tho Government intentions respecting the Murray vacancy in the State Assembly are causing interest in political circles. In tho absence of machinery to conduct by-elections, tho Progressives contend that they are entitled to fill Mr. Bceby’s seat. It is stated 1 that tho Government favours introducing legislation providing that the runner-up at the general election shall fill the vacancy in all cases of by-clections. Tho Murray runnerup is tho Labour candidate, who, if elected will definitely assure the Government majority. No action is likely until tho censure motion is* finished. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ■ 0
