Tho Government intentions respecting the Murray vacancy in the State Assembly are causing interest in political circles. In tho absence of machinery to conduct by-elections, tho Progressives contend that they are entitled to fill Mr. Bceby’s seat. It is stated 1 that tho Government favours introducing legislation providing that the runner-up at the general election shall fill the vacancy in all cases of by-clections. Tho Murray runnerup is tho Labour candidate, who, if elected will definitely assure the Government majority. No action is likely until tho censure motion is* finished. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ■ 0
