In the final of the tug-of-war City Police (representing Britain) beat Holland by two pulls to one. Patrick Ryan (America) won the final of the hammer throwing, with a throw of 52 metres 87j centimetres. The final of the 1500 metres resulted: Hill (Britain) 1, Baker (Britain) 2, Shields (America) 3. Time, drain. 1 4-ssec. Davidson (New Zealand) won the third heat in the 200 metres race, Paddock (America) being second. Time, 22 4-ssec.—Reuter. ANTWERP, August 20. In the heats for the 10,000 metres race Hewitt (Victoria) retired when half the distance had been covered. Tho 15,000 final was a great contest, resulting in Hill being first and Baker second (both of England). ANTWERP, August 21. Parker (N.S.W.) was second in the 3000 metres walk. It was a great race.
