Mr. Justice Salmond left by the mail train for Wanganui this morning, where h© will preside over the quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court. The Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald has sufficiently recovered from his indisposition, after spending nine days ui a private hospital in Auckland, to return to, Wellington. At the annual meeting of the Taranaki brauck of the Veterans Association of New Plymouth on Saturday, votes of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Messis, Edgecombe and Reynolds. ■ A cable ‘from Washington says that Dr. Grayson, personal physician to President Wilson, in -a statement, says the President has regained his former weight of 1791b5., and is doing a great amount of work. Councillor S. Pitt, who has been elected to represoat the North Riding of the Stratford County Conned to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Councillor F. J. Mackay, occupied his position for the first time on Saturday. Ho received *a hearty welcome from the chairman;- who expressed pleasure at the position being filled by such a capable business man. A Press Association telegram from Wellington announces the death-bf Mr. Geo Frost, Deputy-Mayor. He had been a city councillor since 1903 and was chairman of the Technical Education Board for several years. He was previously a member of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board and Mayor of Melrose before that borough amalgamated with the city.
