Mr. P. J. H. AAhite has been nominated as member for the northern ward on the Taranaki Education Board. Gisborne reports the death of Air. E H. Henderson, an old settler of Hide’s Bay. He had three brothers, admirals in the navy. Air. J. Gilmour, an old New Plymouth boy, who lias been for many years the leading business man in Alanaia, has said out there and is coming to New Plymouth to live. The Bristol Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution regretting Sir Thos. Mackenzie’s retirement as a national loss, and hoped means would be found of retaining his services in Euglaud. Air. M. Rudd, who has been attached to the head office staff of the Union Steam Ship Company at Dunedin for the past 18 months, has been appointed assistant-manager jof the conTJJany’s Auckland branch, j At the annual meeting of the West End Bowling Club on Friday a resolution of sympathy was passed with Airs. J. D. Sole, wife of the retiring president, in her illness, and hopes were expressed for her speedy recovery.
