The last sitting of the Chamber bo- , fore Signor Nitti resigned ended in a free fight between the Right deputies and tho Socialists. Signor Nitti’s resignation evoked a general strike in Apulia, followed by clashes between tho crowd and the troops. Tho latter fired a volley, wounding fifty. The public services arc paralysed and the troops- are patrolling tho streets with machine-guns. The strike has extended over tho whole province. Agricultural .strikers at Treviso hold up the trains and forced landowners to sign a contract.
