There have been heavy withdrawals of crossbred clothing sorts and offerings for tho next two- series have been reduced to 90,000 bales at each sale. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Tho Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegrams, dated June 2 and Juno 5 respectively, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London;— Thirteenth series Government wool sales commenced on Monday afternoon. Fair attendance buyers, but competition hesitating; (mutilated word) unsatisfactory demand, it has been decided to restrict length this series to fortnight. Compared with closing rates last series, prices lower: Merinos, 15 to 20 per cent.; fine crossbreds, 10 per cent, to 15 per cent.; medium. 5 per cent.; coarse, not represented. So far 150,000 bales' shown wools available for series, 34,500 of which arc New Zealand. Butter.—No change in price for Government butter. English butter plentiful and selling steadily at average price of 2s 10id per lb. Irish supplies increasing and demand is good; creamery £l4, £l4 18s 8d per cwt. Cheese.—Supplies increasing, with fair inquiry for English at Is 7d, Is 9d. < Canadian market is easier; current quotations, c.i.f., £S Is, £8 3s, hut price is considered too high by trade for large buying. New Zealand stock, June 4, 2083 crates, as- against 43.126 at this time last year. Wool Sales.—Crossbreds selling slowly. Government limit is too high in many cases for New Zealand crossbreds, and large proportion withdrawn, as buyers can purchase similar description free Argentine at relatively lower prices. Honey. Demand is improving. Prices firmer at this week’s public sale. Now; Zealand sold B grade 95s per cwt., C grade 85s. Hemp.—Manila market dull and declining. J grade, February-April to April-jnne shipments now quoted at £6l; July-September shipment sold £64 ss.' New Zealand market very dull. No change in prices except high points spot, now quoted at £SB.
