THE JOCKEYS’ DISPUTE.

CONFERENCE WITH OWNERS. NO AGREEMENT REACHED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 10. A conference was held this afternoon under the chairmanship ot Mr. P. Halley, and under the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act.'between tho executive of tho Now Zealand Jockeys’ Association (represented by Messrs. Sheath, Davie, and Rao), and the racehorse owners of Now Zealand (represented by Sir G. Clifford, Messrs. J. S. MT.cod and B. Hannon). No agreement was arrived at, tho racehorse owners claiming that the Association did not represent the jockeys of Now Zealand, and that even if they did so, it would be impossible in tho interests of owners, trainers, jockeys, and the public to submit to the dictation of any one section of racing interests, especially when organised by outsiders. The owners however, expressed their willingness to receive suggestions on all matters concerned with racing from individual jockeys or others connected with the sport, stating that _ this course had Already been taken in respect to proposed legislation Tly the forthcoming meeting of tho New Zealand Racing Conference. LOCHEELA HELD UP. ‘ AUCKLAND, June 15. The racehorse Locliella, which was to have gone to Australia by the Maheno to-night, was refused a passage by the crew, and will probably be unable to appear at Fleming ton to contest the Australian Grand National.
