During the visit to Bendigo, donning overalls, the Prince of Wales and his staff, accompanied by Mr. Hughes and the Minister of Mines, descended the Unity mine. After chatting with the miners the Prince procured a puck and cut out some gold specimens, managing to cut his hand while doing so. The Prince of Wales concluded his public engagements in Victoria on Saturday, after attending the races, where he backed several horses but failed to pick a winner. He later attended a special theatre performance. At both functions ho was the recipient of enthusiastic demonstrations. Pending his departure to fill the Now Soifth Wales engagements he will spend a week in retirement.
