Tlie British Davis Cup team has arrived at Fremantle.

The Rev. J. Napier Milne heard this morning by cable that bis sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Packman, of Sevenoaks, sailed on the 6th inst., on the Bremen, for New Zealand.

The Prime Minister states that the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, lias consented to examine the departmental files and make a recommendation to the Government regarding the Post Office bonus.

Lieutenant-Colonel G. Home, 0.8. E., of New Plymouth, accompanied by Mrs. Homo and Miss Jessie Home, are on the Rimutaka, which is due at Wellington on December 27. Colonel Homo loft with the Main Body, and after seeing service on Gallipoli he went to England, where he .spent most of the time on the staff of the New Zealand Hospital at "Walton. Miss Jessie Home drove a motor ambulance attached to the Walton Hospital. The death occurred at Vogel town on Sunday of Mr. James Spence, aged 78 years.' The late Mr. Spence was an old settler of this district and for many years was on the staff of Messrs. Okey and Rollo, engineers, retiring from active work some years ago. Mr. Spence had resided on the Carrington Road for many years and only last week moved into a new house at Vogeltown. Ho was a prominent Freemason and was a Pastmaster of the Mount Egmont Lodge. He leaves a widow and grown up family.
