Sarten. , Going in after tho first two men had been bowled in quick succession, they raised tho score froth 6 to 119 before being separated thfiough tho former being caught. Tho latter carried his bat when stumps were drawn an hour and a-half after the innings opened. Eggioslon did tho _ greater part of tho hitting and his 71 included eight boundaries, one being a six. Purdie, proved to bo by far tho most effective bowler Tikorangi could bring against High School. In 11 overs he took seven wickets at a cost of 48 runs, while the runs of the batting team totalled 181. No less than seven batsmen reached double figures and only one ot tho remainder failed to start his tally. Pope (4o) and Greiner (31) each gave a very pleasing exhibition and a partnership between them produced 75 runs. With the ball Sinclair and O’Halloran, who were both bowling a good length and fair speed, did not take long to bring down the first two wickets neatly between them but their further efforts, as well as those of Palmer, Greiner and Osborne, were baffled by tho batsmen, Eggleston and Sarten.
