NOT CHEAPER IN AUSTRALIA. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. L A contradiction is given by tho Board of Trade to the statement that New Zealand timbers can be purchased in Australia at prices lower than those ruling for the same classes of timber in New Zealand. So far as New Zealand prices are concerned these aro controlled by tho Board of Trade by agreement with saw-millers, and Austialian lists in tho possession of the board show that prices aro considerably lower in New Zealand for all classes of New Zealand timbers. Tho misconception has probably- arisen owing to the fact that Australian lists in some cases quote prices at por 1000 feet lineal, whereas the same classes of timber in New Zealand price lists would bo quoted at per 100 ft. super.
