UNION MAY OPEN A SHOP. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. The position regarding the butchers’ strike remains unaltered. The coudilation Commissioner is still active m his efforts to bring about a settlement and a slight improvement is reported in the prospects qf eventually achieving a compromise. The most recent development is a proposal by the Union to open a retail ship in the city nianned by its members and* directed as .to business arrangements by its executive'. The Westfield stock sales are suspended pending a settlement of this dispute. « *
