CHILD MAINTENANCE BILL. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received Nov. 12, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 12. The Legislative Council decided to submit the Child Maintenance Bill to a select committee. The Government hopes that thereby the present impasse will bo overcome. THE WHEAT COMMISSION. SYDNEY, Nov. 11. The Wheat Operations Royal Commission continues to excite considerable interest. Tho accountant, in tho course of hie evidence, said that the total loss on wheat and damage to wheat while in the hands of the State Wheat Office amounted to £2,389,000. He also said that tho holders of 1916-18 wheat had already been, overpaid to the extent of £6oß,ooo.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE BROKEN HILL FIRE. SYDNEY, Nov. 11. The Government is offering £IOOO reward, an insurance office £IOOO, and the Broken Hill South Company £2OOO for information leading to tho conviction of tho perpetrator of the recent fire in the South Mine. A free pardon is offered to an accomplice giving information.
