BOXING.

A FATAL ACCIDENT. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, .August o. During the Otago Boxing Association’s tournament last evening, J. Keay was knocked out in the last round of a six-round bout. Ho struck his head heavily on the floor as he went down, and was removed to the hospital unconscious. He didc this morning. His home was at Fairlie. An inquest on the body "of Keay, the victim of the boxing fatality, opened to-night. The evidence showed, that in the sixth round of a bout with Macdonald deceased was knocked down by a blow on the point. He fell on his back, and the back of his 1 head struck the floor. Dr. Harrison said the bout was remarkably clean on both sides. When Keay was injured both men were very tired, and in witness’ opinion, incapable of delivering a knock-out blow. The fall could have boon produced as easily by a push ns by a blow. Deceased evidently suffered from concussion and cerebral irritation. The inquest was adjourned sine die to enable a port-mortom examination to bo made.
