WHOLE VILLAGES DEAD. DOGS DEVOUR CORPSES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received August 4, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON. August 1. Influenza has desolated the dor coast. Seventy per cent, oi the population in many villages is dead. The neglected wolfish dogs became savage, tore down doors and ato the dead. It was a terrible experience collecting the remains. At some sealing stations where everyone was dead, the dogs left only a few skulls. In one island the missionaries ionutl the dogs chewing dead corpses and began shooting, when a human cry was heard and a girl of eight was found. She was the only survivor, and had been kept alive doubtless by _ tho warmth of the dogs. A sailor introtluccd the disease. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
