VALUE OF CHILDREN’S COMPETITIONS. Per Pros-; Association. WELLINGTON, August 2. _ Mr, W. Stewart Wilson, in an article (in the results achieved by the Otago Expansion Longue, urges that the'’Government should provide funds for agricultural competitions on similar lines to encourage the children of the country to take an interest in intensive cultivation and train them in proper methods. Ho quotes the example of a boy who raised three tons of potatoes on oneeighth of an acre as against the average yield for Hie Dominion of less than live tons per acre, and also similar competitions in America, where' they have developed into a great national movement.
