NEW' PLYMOUTH CLUB. The first round for the Standish Cup (match play) was played at Waiwakaiho on Saturday under splendid weather conditions. The greens and approaches to the greens wore, however, covered with worm-easts, and so placed the lower handicapped players at a disadvantage, it being difficult to pick up strokes on the greens. 'The following were the results: — Austin boat Geo. Grey, 6 up and 5. Rohcrtshavv beat Anderson, 1 up. Smytho boat Bewley, 1 up at the 19th. Johns heat Milne, 2 up and 1. Thompson heat Hutchcn, 6 up and 5. M’Quado heat Bullard, 4 up and 3. The committee desires to draw the attention of players to the necessity for replacing divots. The mixed foursome flag match for the 0. E. Rhodes Challenge Cup-at Shirley resulted' iu a win for Mrs. Roy' Symes and L. Hansen. Sixty players took part in the match.
