MARCONI COMPANY’S CLAIM

LONDON, June 2

In the King’s Bench Division the Marconi Company is claiming £7,182,000 from tho Government for a breach of contract in connection with the Imperial wireless chain. MUNITION FACTORY EXPLOSION

PARIS, May 24,

A munition factory, covering an area of several kilometers near Bailleul, was blown up, 20 persons being killed including some English soldiers. The explosion is believed to ho duo to the carelessness of some Chinese labourers.

A spark from a broken trolley wire ignited a car in the powder tunnel of the, Delaware railway at Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania. The explosion killed sixty mine workers and injured forty.

SCARCITY OF COAL IN BRITAIN.

LONDON, June 2. In the House ot Commons Sir Auckland Geddcs stated that the coal position was serious, and the existing restrictions on consumption must bo continued for another year, and exports must bo reduced to eleven million tons.
