THE PICTURE WORLD.

EVERYBODY’S. MABEL NORMAND AS "PECK’S BAD GIBE.” That delightful photo-play favourite Mabel Normand was seen at her most laughable and enjoyable best—once more in broad comedy—at Everybody’s last night. The title of the picture is “Peck’s Bad Girl,” in which Mabel Normand as the bad girl starts off as a ragamuffin, and a very flighty one at tjijt. Her pranks would, nlelt a misanthrope. Later she blossoms forth in fine dresses—and an obtrusive camisole. Then things become serious, thrills commence, love enters, the plot thickens, and an unexpected denouement arrives. The staid old village of Yaptank has been both amused and shocked by thei pranks of Mabel Penelope Peck. There are but a few of the villagers who haven’t at some time or other been the victims of the irrepressible Mabpl’s little jokes. But with the arrival of Richard Hayes, Mabel decides to change her mode of living, and obtains a position in a millinery shop, for Richard soon takes a fancy to Mabel and she to him. Hayes poses as a jewellery salesman, but is really a private detective to whom w-ord has come of a plot to rob the Yaptank Bank. How he and Mabel in trapping the crooks is both interesting and amusing. To-night will be the final screening of the picture. THE PEOPLE’S. “THE WOMAN GOD FORGOT.” Geraldine Farrar’s latest super-pic-ture from the Artcraft studios, “The Woman God Forgot,” has been looked forward to for some time by local film fans, and 'to-day’s announcement will bo hailed with delight. In. the opening stages of the plot the nephew Montezuma, the all-powerful king of the Aztecs, asks him for the hand of his beautiful daughter, Tecza.. Montezuma agrees, but Tecza rejects her suitor. A quarrel is brewing, when it is announced that some unknown invaders have landed and are pillaging and burning the temples and gods of the Aztecs. ‘ Montezuma sends his newhow and a hand of slaves with presents of precious stones, to try and induce the invaders to leave the country in peace. The invaders are Spaniards, Their leader, Cortez, refuses to leave. He sends his favourite, Captain Alvardo, to represent himself to Montezuma as the son of the “Fair God.” The captain arrives at the palace of Montezuma, where a fight ensues, owing to the king's nephew attempting to prove whether or no the officer is a god by thrusting a spear n t him. Tecza is attracted by the stranger, and after he escapes from the infuriated soldiers, hides him in her room. He is found and sentenced to' the sacrificial altar. How the Spaniards gain admission and save Alvardo, and how one of the strangest fights in history ends, is dramatically shown in this striking and spectacular production. The final screening is to-morrow night.
