CURIOUS SYDNEY CASE.
A DEPORTED MINER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright, (Received Juno 2, 1 p-m.) SYDNEY, June 2.
A remarkable case is exciting attention. A miner named Paui Freeman, without reasons given, was placed on board the steamer Sonoma by the military authorities for deportation to America and was refused admission to America. Freeman was carried to San Francisco and back three times. The Sonoma is now in Sydney. He started a hunger strike with the object of compelling the authorities to grant him a trial. He fasted several days and is very weak. Strong pressure is being brought on file Federal authorities to deal with the case.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
