There seems to be no lack of suitable men willing to serve on the Harbour Board; would that the council had a similar number of keen and interested members to chooso from. An enjoyable afternoon was spent yesterday at" the Clifton Hall, when the members of the Women’s National Reserve entertained the mothers and wives of soldiers. The music was in charge of Mrs. C. Ogle, and altogether a very pleasant time was spent. At the meeting yesterday to decide on the time for the “First Aid to Influenza” classes it was arranged that the first class should be held next Monday evening, at 8 o’clock, in the Red Cross rooms, over Mr. Button’s. shop. The classes will be under the supervision of Dr. Campbell, and will comprise instruction in the taking of temperatures and pulses,, and the making of poultices. I feel sure that there is a great number of people who‘although' they did their best in the'last epidemic, felt their lack of knowledge keenly, find will be very thankful for this opportunity of supplying the lack. An enamel basin and iron spoon -is the sole working apparatus necessary.
