THE TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. ' THURSDAY’S PLAY. The Taranaki tournament was continued on Thursday in fine weather. . In Section A, Benefield and London tied, and ,play off to-day. ‘ A. K. Smart won section B and plays off to-day with Sole, winner of Section E. Nixon wen Section C and had a bye this morning, whilst Abbott and Carey, who tied for Section D, play off this morning. SECTION -A. London (Wanganui) v. Benefield (St. John’s). London had thp best of the opening stages, and on the tenth head was leading 10 to 8. ' On the fifteenth head the teams were fourteen all. Benefield scored a single on the next head, London a three on the next,-two on the next, and a single on the 19th head. Benefield got two on the 20th, and London added another on the last head, winning by 21 to 17. SECTION D. Abbott (Fitzroy) v. Carey (Patea). Abbott scored an easy win. On the tenth head the scores were 13 to 3 in his favour, and on the 15th the board read Abbott 18, Carey 5. On the 16th head Carey added 3, and on the 17th, 18th and 19th, Abbott increased his score to 22 t whilst .on tho last two heads

Carey added a two and a single, the final being: Abbott 22, Carey 11. SECTIONS B AND E. Sole (West End) v. A. K. Smart (New Plymouth). A. K. Smart, winner of Section B, met Sole, winner of Section E. the game ending in favour of Sole by 23 points to 12. On the tenth head Solo was leading 9 to 6, and after playing the fifteenth head Smart was leading. 12 to 11. Smart failed to score again, and the’ West End skip add"d .» further 12 points on the last six- heads, SKA^-FINALS. In the draw for the semi-finals, Sole (West End) meets, Nixon (Gonville) and Abbott (Fitzroy) meets London (Wanganui). These matches were commenced at one. o’clock this afternoon, and the final will bo commenced about 4 o’clock.
