Mr. P. C. Webb has been re-elected 1 for the Grey scat, unopposed.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dyer, of Wellington are at present staying at the North Eg.nont Mountain House.

Mr. M. Meyenhcrg. headmaster of tho Omata. School, has enlisted and been passed for active service. Ho will probably go into camp in March.

His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards arrives by tho mail train to-night to preside at the session of tho Supreme Court, which commences to-morrow. -

Mr. Sclwyn "Wilson, of Nelson, has taken up the position of District Land Valuer at New Plymouth in succession to Mr. Lloyd, who has temporarily held the position since the resignation of Mr. Hickman F. .Russell. In connection with the death in action of Lieut. Allan Morpeth, of Waihi (Waikato), it is interesting to know that he >vas one of six brothers, all on active service—a, great record. One of the brothers lost a leg in the Somme battle.

In the latest Territorial orders (says tho Hawera Star) it is notified that the New Zealand long and efficient sendee medal has been awarded to Major E. P. Cox, 11th Taianaki Riflb Regiment. Major Cox has completed sixteen years in the Territorial force. Since his return from .active service with the Main Body be has been acting as Group Commander for the Taranaki district. Word has been received of the death in England of Mr. Edward Moorhouse. The deceased, who was 82 years of age, arrived in New Zealand during the early days of the Canterbury settlement. Later be settled in tho North Island, where ho was part owner and manager of Owhaoko and Murimotu sheep stations, in tho centre of the island. In 1883 he married tho only daughter of tho late Hon. W. B. Rhodes, of Wellington, and soon afterwards returned to England. His eldest son, who did grand work as an aviator in France, and was awarded the Victoria Cross, died of wounds. His other children are a son, who is in the Royal Artillery, and two daughters, one or whom is married to the only son ot Bishop Ryle, Dean of Westminster Mrs. Moorhouse survives him. Colonel \\. H. S. Moorhouse, of Wellington, is a nephew of the deceased.
