MAORI WOMAN FATALLY BURNED. PUB PRESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, ugust 9. _ Tolaga Bay reports that Hoinißangi, a. native woman, aged 100, was tumed to death. Deceased had been in the habit of sleeping in a tent, and was left with a candle burning. In the morning the charred remains of the tent were found with the woman’s body lying just beyond the circle- of fire; • A SOLDIER’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, August 8. The soldier killed at Manurewa was Joseph Cartwright, of Paparoa, north of Auckland.
