CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

MEETING TO-MORROAA r . The Conciliation Commissioner for tho Northern and Taranaki Industrial Districts (Mr. T. Harlo Giles) arrived from Auckland this morning for the purpose of presiding over the hearing of two industrial disputes. On Wednesday, at 11 a.m., the Wellington United Furniture Trade (Taranaki branch) dispute will be heard. The assessors for the employers are Messrs. C. E. Baker, W. J. Cousins (Auckland), and J. W. Hayden. The union assessors are Messrs. D. R. Kennedy, D. (Wellington), and J. Barlow (Christchurch). Tho claims are based on the lines of two agreements which have recently been entered into in AAhllingten and Auckland. On Thursday, at tho same hour..jh° Conciliation Council will hear the dispute between the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners (Taranaki branch) and tho Taranaki employers. The assessors for the employers are Messrs. A. L. Roberts, P. A. Coleman, and W. F. Brooking, while the union assessors are Messrs. A\. J. Girling, G. Pascoe, and George 6. Burgess At 10.30 a.m. the Commissioner will deal with applications to join parties to the dispute. The claims of the union include increased wages and unproved conditions. The employers have filed, counter-proposals in relation to a number of the clauses of the union s churns.
