MEETING AT STRATFORD,

A general meeting of tho above institute was hold on Saturday at Stratford. Owing to tho very wet weather, there was a small attendance. The president, Mr. H, A. Stratford, occupied tho chair. Three new members were elected. Tho president’s action in appointing Mr. Rope a delegate to tho conference of tho New Zealand Educational Institute m place of Mr. J. Thomas was continued. A letter was received from tho Auckland Technical School Teachers’ Association expressing dissatisfaction with tho censorship of lilms shown cinematograph theatres in New Zealand, to which children are admitted without restriction, and urging that children under 15 bo admitted to only specially censored performances. It was considered that tho matter should bo brought heforo the New Zealand Educational Institute, and Mr. Tyrer moved accordingly. Tho sewing syllabus drawn up by the Women Teachers’ Association and approved by the inspectors will bo printed and sent to all teachers in Taranaki. At tho request of the Taranaki llugby Union tho regulations lor tho i!ayly Scholarship wero considered. Mr. J. W. Thomas proposed, and Mr. Sim seconded, that for tho purpose oi popularising the All. Bayly scholarship this institute suggests the following amendments Clause 1: That the age lie under 14, the scholarship to be open to all boys attending public or private primary schools m Taranaki province. Clause 5 1 The athletic events wore amended as follow; ICO yards to bo run in ISfscc., quarter-mile in 70sec., high jump fht. bin., long jump I:2ft., drop kick 35yds., place kick three angles, the punt to bo omitted. 'lho points awarded for reaching the standard «) bo 20 marks awarded in each event to bo 20 for lirst, 10 for second, 'and 5 lor third.
