MOA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING,

The monthly meeting of the Moa Hoad Board wa-s held at the board’s offices, Inglewood, on Saturday. There were present: Messrs. H. Trimble (chairman), M. Hopson, A. E. Lawrence, G. Capper, J. Bridgeman, and J. Huoker, A. Clough, G. Shoemark, and J. Williams. OVERSEER’S REPORT. The overseer (Mr. W. R. Davies) presented his monthly report as follows: “As instructed re tho pipe depot site I inspected the site at Suffolk Road, north of Junction Road, and find the access is bad, as the road will have to bo made across a gulloy or elso we would have to go through a paddock for a distance of about 25 chains to get to the river. It is a very steep grade down to the shingle. The better site of tho two is the place near tho present pipe depot on the opposite side of the river. The shingle would be easy to get. If tho present site could be procured at a reasonable price, taking everything into consideration, I think it would bo the best of tho three. "As there is a lot of water-tabling to be done, I would suggest getting a small scoop. "During tho month the following pipes havo been made:—Five 2ft., six 18in., and six 12in. As tho supph' of cement had run out I ordered one ton from Bellringer Bros., New Plymouth. This has been received. With tho chair- , man’s consent I got two cubic yards of fine shingle for making pipes from Mr. Grylls, Hursthouse Koad. No. 1 division: The old metal has been patched from Junction Road to Air. Zinnerraan spoke of and find that it requires cleaning from end to end—lo 4 chains. Re culvert which Air. Parlio spoke of on Dudley Road West.; Thoro is a fall of 2ft. at the outlet and at tho inlet there is 18in. of water backed up. If tho culvert, which is an ISin. one, were lowered. Air. Parlie could drain his property. It would cost about £2. Leppor Road South: Tho 87yds. has patched the old metal for a distance of about 90 chains. Rugby Road; Two old wooden culverts require renewing. The maintenance metal will be put on the road as soon as tho work on Durham Road is finished. About Byds. of maintenance motal has been used in patching holes. About 9 chains of water-tabling has been done. When tho balance of tho maintenance motal lias been put on, I should like to get tho roller instead of having to continuallv’ rate it in. Bedford Road, south of Norfolk Road ; Air. Alarcon asked if the board would allow Foreman Ludorman a day or two to help him form up tho road from Air. Potrotz’s place on for a distance of 20 chains. Kaimata Road North; Scrub and foru has been cut off the banks, water-tables and culverts cleaned,' loose stone raked up, and holes in metal patched in places for a distance of 50 chains. Alangaotea Road; About 20 chains past Air. Hooper’s place there arc two wooden culverts close together; these could bo replaced with a concrete pipo culvert. Salisbury Road: Fern has been cut off the banks, loose stone raked up, culverts and water-tables cleaned for a distance of 40 chains.” The report was adopted. TfCE RATES. The Chairman gave notice to move that the rates bo Id. Ho said that the roads wore improving, but more would have to bo done. The revenue derived from this rate would amount to £2462. Air. Capper spoke in favour of the motion, which was carried. GENERAL. Tho overseer was empowered to procure a small scoop. The overseer reported V.
