GOOD PEOGEESS MADE. ALL ALONG THE EEONT. ROME, June 17. Official.—There wore combats favourable to us along the whole frontier, notably at Carnia anti tholsonzo. The Alpini at Monte Nero charged and expelled the Austrians from positions northward of the principal summit, and took 3X5 prisoners, including fourteen officers. LONDON, June 17. Mr. Donohoo (tho war correspondent) reports from Romo that the Austrians attacked the Italian positions in tho Scsis Pass at dawn and advanced in massed formation, and few lived to roach tho Italian trenches. Tho Austrian artillery was unable to co-operate owing to the unfavourable nature of the ground, fearing to decimate their own ranks. Their infantry reserved their lire, trusting to the bayonet, but tho Italian fire swept tho open ground and tho Austrians fell in heaps. Tho first and second attacks withered away and tho third also failed. AN IMPORTANT OPERATION. WEIX.INGTOX, June IS. The High Commissioner reports under date 1/ondon. June 17:— Italian. encounters with tho enemy hare been successful along the whole front. Particular importance is attributed action in Mon to Nero zone by Alpine troops, to whom was entrusted the task of dislodging enemy ambushes on tho mountain side. The operation began in tho night during difficult climbing of tho rocks and ended at daybreak in an impetuous attack, which was crowned with complete success. Up to the present there are 350 prisoners, including 14- officers, and more are coming.
