Mr. Roosevelt admitted, under crossexamination. that while Governor of Mow York State, he was under the thumb of .Senator Platt, and was forced to take orders from Platt, who was the political "boss." ruling with a rod of iron. These orders continued even after ho (.Mr. Roosevelt) became President. Mr. Roosevelt also admitted that ho refrained from authorising legal proceedings against certain trusts because they contributed to his campaign funds.
