WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING, The monthly mooting of the* Whangamomona County Council wax hold on Tuesday. Present: Councillors Mero-‘ clith (chairman), M. Goevor, X. R. Cloland, A. Coyne. T. H. Alounsey J. APCluggago ami W. ALCntcban. ENGINEER'S REPORT. The engineer’s .v-», ri. was read and matters arising tluuein wore dealt with as follow's:— The engineer was instructed to prepare plans and e.siimau* of cost of shod for storing council 1 * plant-. Tho ; chairman will interview Dr. Hitchcock re the hitter's lease of council section as a horse paddock. The clerk will make application to the Government for loan id £h(H) for •second bridge in WSmngamomona township on account of Central Riding bridge rate. The clerk will make application for loan of £2OO for Kami Road Bridge, ssime to be a charge on the Strathmore Riding bridge rate. A truck of 9in. pipes will bo procured for the Tahora Riding. DEPUTATION. Mr. d. O’Conner wailod on the council re proposed bridge to give access to Ids section, and it. was resolved that the Minister of Public "Works be asked if. in connection with his correspondence with Mr. J .O'Conner, of Makahu. lie will make a grant of £l5O towards the cost of a bridge to give access, which is estimated to cost from £2()0 to £2OO. and that the peculiar circumstances of the case and the urgent nature of the work lie fully pointed out to the Minister in such application. GENERAL. It was resolved that the appointment of a surfaceman for the Central Hiding be left in the hands of the engineer, and that in view of the urgency of placing the pound again in commission the council recommends the engineer to employ, if possible, a married man.
The Railway Department will be requested to put in on railway near J. May's crossing on Ohura Road.
Mr. T. Ross will be informed that the council cannot consent to givo any person permission to erect gates on the public roads. Councillor M'Cluggago’s action in selling old bridge timber at Pohokura, for 29s was confirmed.
The engineer was authorised to put in a culvert on Brower Road opposite Leek wood’s boardinghouse. Councillor Momisey's action in allowing tho surfaceman to assist the contractor on tho Brewer Road was confirmed.
Mr. Tra.sk will be informed that the council requires tho timber in the pound-paddock for fencing posts. Accounts amounting to £1776 13s Id were passed for payment.
