TARANAKI EGG CIRCLE.

ANNUAL MEETING, The annual meeting of the Taranaki Egg Circle was held at the Town Hall. New Plymouth, on Thursday evening, Mr. \V. Scott presiding. r CHAIRMAN'S R EPORT. Following is the report of the chairman (Mr. W. Scott): — Your committee have pleasure in presenting the annual report, statement of account, and balance-sheet for tho financial year ending March HI. 1015. It is gratifying to note that there is a net profit for the period under review of £37 19s 9d. The capital account now stands at £sl lls 7d. During the past twelve months the circle has received and sold 38.095 dozen eggs at an average net price of Is 2d per dozen, while for the previous rear 28,435 dozen and five eggs were marketed at an average price of Is (Mil per dozen, it will therefore lx- seen that this year's turnover has shown a marked increase of 10.240 dozen eggs, and at a bolter average price of Ud per dozen. Tho membership has grown considerably tins year. It now stands at 130. as against So for the previous year.

Tim circle has now' three branches, viz.. Waitara. Inglewood, and Stratford. Your commit tee leave boon approached by poultrymen at Okato and Eltham with , a view to forming branches at these two places. Should, sufficient inducement, offer, branches will be opened there before the spring. Tho secretary was appointed to act as delegate nr the New Zealand Poultry Association's Conference held in Wellington at Easter. Some important remits by various Egg Circles worn discussed and brought by deputation under tho notice of the Premier, who promised us his support. About 20.000 dozen eggs were dispatched to other markets in New Zealand, and this of course considerably relieved the local market. If our total output had been sold locally very low prices indeed would have been received —probably not more iban 9d per dozen during the summer months. Export.—'Phis floason no eggs were exported out of tlie Dominion by this circle. Some circles sent trial shipments to America with disastrous results, as, owing to bad refrigeration, tlie eggs opened up in poor* condition, and realised only about 6cl per down to tho suppliers. The following figures somo idea of the growth of the circle’s operations since its inception in May. 1912: 1912- —Members; 75. Dozens eggs sold: 23,206. Total received by suppliers: £1163 13s 2d. 1913- —Members: 35. Dozens eggs sold: 28,455. Total received by suppliers: £1491 16s Sd. 1914- Members: 130. Dozens evgs sold: 33,695. Total received by suppliers: £1932 16s 4d. Although very high prices are being paid for food, tho committee strongly advise members to keep the l>c«t ot their flocks, as owing to the destruction of so many laying birds eggs undoubtedly will be in short supply.
