MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of tho Taranaki Land Board was hold on Wednesday. Present; Messrs. G. H. Bullard (Commissioner) in the chair, J. Hesfop, J. Rattenbury, Ryan and Coxhead.

TRANSFERS. W. C. Clement applied to transfer section 6. block 7, Kaupokonui, 320 acres, E.R. lease, to S. Parkes and t - IT. Brooker.—Resolved to approve, subject to usual conditions. £. Brocklebank applied to transfer sect ini 3, block 5. Mahno, 1013 acres, E.R. lease, to R. .M Chiggago. Conditions fulfilled.—Approved. A. M. Calvert applied to transfer sections 509, 570, New Plymouth (half acre), education reserve lease, to J. C. Pea rce.—A pproved. The matter again came bcioro tho board on February Jo, when it was resolved to defer coii.sidora.tion until this mooting.—Tho hoard went very folly into the facts of the case and decided it could not approve of a transfer, lint action was suspended for three months to give tho lessee an opportunity to acquire the freehold right out. G. At. Smith applied to transfer section 11, block 10, Ngaiimaru, 200 acres, to James Jackson, but as transferee held 100 acres adjoining (sections IJ and 13, block to, Ngatimaru L.P.), the application was refused at last meeting. Application had been made for reconsideration of the matter. Air. Alalouo attended and explained tho position, and in view of tho rough nature of tho land, it being sheep country, tho board, alter lull discussion, decided to approve the transfer.

Robertson.—As it was a university reserve and in an out-of-the-way place the transfer was approved. T. Nash applied to transfer sections o and (i, block IJ, Alahoe, -100 acres, and sections 8. block 13, and 5. block 1-i, Alahoe. TOO acres, to Thomas Godkin.—Approved. John .Skinner applied to transfer section 1, block 7. Alinii, 410 acres, to IT. Wells.—Approved. Janies t’cdersen applied to transfer section 7, block 3, Upper Waitara, 658 acres, to Mrs. Al. Al. Passau.—-It was resolved that the transfer bo refused, but that Airs. Passau, who is also mortgagee, be given a reasonable time (not exceeding twche mouths) to find a purchaser. the forfeiture in the meantime to be suspended provided rent is paid up to the duo dates. Air. Al'Lean applied to transfer section 7, bloek 5, Kapara, 1213 acres, to S. R. A. Goango.—Refused, the board being of opinion that tho section had been made the subject of too much speculation, and it was suggested that it the parties wished to deal with the land they should acquire tho freehold. Notice was given by Air. T. B. Crump, solicitor, that application would bo made to transfer section 11, block 12, Alapara, from It. A, Guilford to Florence Julian.—After very full consideration it was decided that Airs. Julian be allowed to increase tho area she proposed taking to not exceeding 30 acres, and Guildford will bo allowed to transfer balance to an eligible person. T. S. Al. Bottomloy to G. S. Martin, section’ 80. Tokaora settlement; an exchange.—Declined. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. Applications for land were dealt with ns follows: It was reported that eight allotments in Spotswood Settlement were offered for sale by auction for cash or on deferred payments on March TO. and two allotments were disposed of as under on deferred payments: Sections 30 and 31, Aland Chcfiinps; section 37, Samuel Joseph Crosier.—lt w;aa resolved to contirm tho sale, possession to be given on April 19, 1914, Tho application of AV. Al. Peterson for section 32. block 11, Alapara, 317 acres, under perpetual lease was approved. Tho lender of AV. J. Dickson for a lease of Education Reserve, sections 9 and 10. block 27, Town of Paten, (half an acre) was confirmed. The application of Terry Bros, for an O.R.P. license for section 3, block 8, Aria, 10a. 2r. Pp., adjoining their present selection, for approval under section M, Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, was approved. Applications were made for section 1, block 1. Omara, area 1343 acres, and section 2, block 1, Omara, area 1282 acres, by Airs. A. Hamilton and her husband' G. C. Hamilton, respectively, under O.R.P. conditions.—This matter was discussed very fully, and it was resolved to approve the application.

TO BE OFFERED FOR SELECTION. A plan of 322 acres of land in block 4\ Mimi, surveyed by Mr. Laing, was submitted, and it was resolved to offer it for selection undfcr optional condi-

lions, on the understanding that the selector must provide his own access across the river. It was resolved to rc-ofter section I, block 5, Aria, 52 acres, for selection on optional conditions at 60s per acie. It was resolved in order that the Act he complied with that Mr. Heslop be requested to visit AVaihi Reserve with the Commissioner, with a view to subdivision of tho land for disposal.

GENERAL.

Tho Ohura County Council applied to have sections 1,7,8,9, blocks 11 and 5, block 7. Aria, proclaimed a special reading district under section 50 of Die Land Laws Amendment Act, 19Li. The ranger's report was satisfactory, and it was resolved to recommend that tho sections bo declared a special district for reading purposes. It was resolved to approve of proposals for expenditure ol thirds, as under, subject to ranger's eorlihcate; Oka to Hoad Hoard, £6 10s 3d. An application by AV. H. Fitzpatrick for freehold cm deferred payment, lor section 101, Spotswood, routining 35 porches, with usual conditions pending completion of purchase, was approved. It was resolved to approve cd the issue of the license for section 10, block 1, Tangitu, John Morgans. J. N. Langman desired to abandon section C, Week 10. Aria, i2i acres, selected on Angus! 21, 1013.—1 t was resolved to forfeit his interest, but that he 1)0 not disqualified under section 15 (1) of Tho Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913,
