KILLED ON AUCKLAND WHARF. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, March 24. Roy Howarth, aged 28, a married man with two children, while assisting in the discharge, of cargo from the Rimutaka, was crushed by a sling of iron, which fractured hie left leg below the knee. He died this afternoon. FATAL FALL FROM HORSE. CHRISTCHURCH,. March 24. James Landrigan, who was thrown from his horse at Little River railway station and admitted to the Christchurch Hospital yesterday, died there last night. At the inquest held to-day Dr. Scott stated that the man never regained consciousness after admittance to the hospital. Death was due to fracture of the base of the skull. Evidence was given that deceased was riding quietly along when ho gave a tug at the reins and horse and rider fell over. ' A verdict of accidental death •was returned. DROWNED IN FLOODED RIVER. NAPIER, March 24. Late this afternoon a boy aged four, the son of T. Innes, fell into the Tutaefcuri River and was drowned. The lad was playing on the hank with his brother, and through a false move he fell into the stream, which was running almost hank high. The lad was immediately swept away, and it is thought that the body was carried out to sea. ACCIDENTAL DEATH. INVERCARGILL, March 25. At the inquest on Michael Hanan, who was killed at the goods shed, evidence showed that deceased was sitting on the edge of.an open skylight and apparently put out his hand to change his position, when he overbalanced and fell on his head, sustaining a fractured Btull. The verdict was accidental death.
