Tho teaching staff and the School Committee put in a hard day’s work in the field, and a number of ladies were kept busy supplying the children with fruit, lollies, cake and tea. A collection of musical instruments were also distributed, the effect being good. The concert in tho evening was a great success. Mr. W. G. Shoemark presided and the following programme was submitted;—Overture, Messrs. A. Hinz (piano), G. Marsh and J. Hinz (violinsl, "Whip and Spur Gallop”; song, Mr. Colo, ’‘The boy I used to be.” (encore "Juggins took tho money”); song, Miss Banyan, "Whey did they sell Killarncy”; instrumental duet. Misses Ida and Hilda Alleraann, "Shepherd’s Evening Song” ; recitation, Mr. J, Frewin, "The Liverpool Cheese”; club-swinging (musical), the school children; song. Mr. Manning, “I hear you calling me.” Tho annual distribution of books by the chairman was tho next item. livery child received a book. The prize-winners for sewing were Hilda Schickcr, Lucy Lilly and Eileen Shoemark. Two medals were given, as points prizes, for the best performers on the sports ground. Othilia Hinz was the winner of tho girls’ medal (having won a medal three years in succession) and Len Taylor was declared the. winner of the boys’ medal. Pianoforte solo, Miss Elsie Colo; recitation, Mr. Manning, "Dot Babeo of Mine” (encore “Mine FamTy”); instrumental trio, Miss 0. Hinz and Mr. J. Hinz (violins), Mr. G. Marsh (piano); song, Mr. Hy, Taylor ”1 want to go to-morrow” ; musical clttbswinging. school children ; song, Mr. H. Cole, "John Willy como on” (encore "I wns standing at the corner of the street”); piano solo. Miss Agnes Smith, "Largentina” ; song. Mr. H. Cole, “A friend of the family” (and by request “Tito patter of the shingle”). "God Save the King” brought the concert to a close. Tho Chairman briefly thanked the audience for their attendance and the performers for their aid. and then announced that the hall would bo cleared" for dancing. The dance was well patronised. Mr. G. Marsh supplied the music and Mr. J. Henderson acted as M.C.. and kept things moving till 2 a.m. Supper at midnight was the only necessary interval.
