In Hie King’s Bench Division of the High Court, William Bird, a common informer, sued for £13,000 and costs against Sir Stuart Samuel, M.P., the amount representing tho aggregate penalties for voting in the House of Commons while contractor for the supply of silver to the India Office. His Honour Judge Rewlatt, under a statute of the year ISOI, awarded £SOO for each of twenty-six votes, but granted a stay of execution. Plaintiff pointed out that an Indemnity Bill was proposed and asked that the money be paid into court. The application was refused.
