Porter Charlton, an American who is charged with tho murder of his wife in Italy, tokl tho magistrate at Como that on his wife’s last day, after a series of quarrels and reconciliations, she attempted to strike him. Ho then struck her with a hammer several times on the nock. She tied and foil across the bed and died. He, realising that ho must get rid of the body, placed it in a box and threw it into tho lake.
