The nineteenth annual championship tournament of the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Club opened at the Waioahiki links this morning, in tine weather. but with a strong westerly wind, which interfered somewhat with play. Shortly after 2 p.m. tho wind lulled, and rain began to continuing intermittently throughout' tho remainder of the afternoon. Tho course was in perfect order, and the greens played exceptionally well. Forty competitors hare entered for the championship. Nino games, completing the first heat, were, got off during tho day. Results CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. First Heat. Miss Bell (Wellington) beat Miss Conner (Poverty Bay), 4 up and 2 to piav. Miss Alison (Auckland) beat Miss Abraham (Mannwatu), 4 up and 3 to play. Mrs. Slack (Manawatu) beat Mrs. Bidwill (Wellington), 2 up and 1 to '' Miss M. Gorrie (Auckland) beat Miss Harris (Haglcy), 1 up.
