CYCLING.

CIRCULAR ROAD RACE. A meeting of the executive committee of tho Round-tho-Mountain Cycle Race was held in tho Council Chambers on Wednesday night. Mr. J. M’Lebd presided, and there wore also present Messrs. A. George, J. Clarke, H. Brooks, C. Sadler, J. Bonnett, G. Tabor, H. Moon, W. J. Jonas, B. Vinson, W. Dinneen and C. Davy. An apology for non-attoydanco was received from Mr. E. Whittle. Tlie chairman reported that numerous riders and members of the cycling trade had been circularised in connection with the race, which is to be held on September 11. The secretary was instructed to write to the Railway Department, inquiring under what conditions tho competitors travelling to the race could do so at reduced faros. It was also decided to arrange with tho department to carry in competitors who have broken down along the road, the committee to guarantee that the fare would bo paid, as it was felt that riders could not conveniently carry money with them. Mr. Davy announced that the North Taranaki Hunt was willing to contest Mr. J. Bennett’s new cup. Several hunting events will again bo put on tho day’s programme. Numerous otlier special prizes, similar to those offered last year, will also bo open for competition. Mr. G. Tabor was heartily thanked for his donation of a trophy, which will bo given as second prize in one of the motor cycle races. The chairman, secretary and Mr. George were appointed an advertising committee. The members of tho executive will travel round the mountain on tho 27th inst., on a visit of inspection to the roads and depots. It is intended to vigorously push the sale of members’ tickets and the various committees along tho route will then be given supplies.
