HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the High School Board of Governors was held in the secretary’s office on Monday evening, when urgent matters were dealt with. The chairman (Mr. E. Dockrill) presided over the meeting. It was resolved that in consideration of tho threatened visitation of smallpox, parents of boarders be advised that the board considers it necessary that the hoys should bo vaccinated at once. If no answer is received to this notice in seven days it will be taken that the parents consent. _ The number iff boarders has now entirely outgrown the accommodation provided, and several would-be boarders are compelled to seek private accommodation. With a view to procuring more room for the boarders it was decided to secure the house at the comer of Pendarves and Eliot Streets (at the foot of the hill). Applications are to be invited, through the medium of the city papers, for a Latin and English master, at a salary of £3OO per annum. Applicants must be able to teach to Junior Scholarship standard, and must send in their applications, with testimonials and photos, not later than July 31. Duties will commence on September 18. It was decided to urge Mr. H. Okey, M.P., to endeavour to get the Hon. Mr. Allen (Minister for Education) to accompany the Parliamentary Party Which is to visit the district shortly.
