Carterer, the Domain orator, whom the crowd hunted on Sunday, was remanded on a charge of addressing an assemblage in language calculated to create a breach of the peace. The police described him as a rabid anarchist, declaredly against all authority, who would not hesitate to assail human life. He was a companion of Continental Socialists.

Carterer, describing himself as a Dane, denied that he was an anarchist. He favoured peace and order. The trouble arose through Chidioy, who was being hunted and jeered at by a crowd, seeking his protection.
