GISBORNE SESSIONS. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Juno 26. At tho Supreme Court to-day, before his Honour .Mr. Justice Cooper, at the criminal sittings, Henry White, a young Native, who pleaded guilty at Tokomarn Bay to'stealing a horse, was sentenced to two years’ hard labour. Prisoner had a bad record, ho having been admitted to probation lor horse stealing at Auckland in February last, and had also served terms of three and a half months’ imprisonment and six months’ imprisonment on other charges. John Alexander Munroc, who was charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, was acquitted, as was also Nuia Maknore, on a charge of horse stealing. A claim for £SOO for slander, brought by IVi Parian?, a wellknown Native clergyman, against ‘Wartini To Ariki Jluka, a Native woman, was adjourned till to-morrow after evidence had been taken.
