AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 22. The Auckland Racing Club's Easter meeting commenced in beautiful weather and with fust tracks. Results ; Tradesmen's Handicap. Peary 1, Monorail 2, Maxwell 3. Scratched; Dido and Tangiwai. Peary took charge after three furlongs had ucen covered, and lasted long enough to win by a length and a half, half a length separating second and third. Brighton Hurdles.—Prophet 1, Surplus 2, To Wharoa 3. Scotched: iioiuigii. Hyperion, and Whimper. Five furlongs from home Prophet and Sandy Paul went to the front, the latter falling at a fence near the mile and a-half post. Prophet won easily by six lengths Time, 3min. 50sec. Champagne Stakes.*—Soltano 1, Merry Roe 2, Daylly 3. Also started: Lady' Alicia and Soltano. Merry Roe led all the way. There was an exciting finish, Soltano gaining tho verdict by a neck. Time, imin. 10 2-ssee.
Eastcr Handicap.—Jack Delaval 1, Blcriot 2, Tact 3. Scratched; La Reina, Crown Pearl, Ivaween and Gloy. Tact made the running for the first three furlongs. Jack Delaval got on terms with her and the pair tufnod for homo together. Jack Delaval drew out and won by two lengths from Bleriot, who just boat Tact for second place. Time, Imin. 40sec. In the first race a protest was entered against tho winner, Peary, for alleged interference with Monorail. The stewards sustained it and disqualified Peary, hut, being of opinion that Devitt, the jockey, was unable to control his horse, inflicted no punishment on him. AVAIL ARAPA MEETING. FEATHERSTON, March 22. Tho course was in splendid order and there was a largo crowd present. Tho weather was fine except that there was a heavy north-west gale blowing. Results : Trial Hack Handicap, Ladoga 1, Perhaps 2, Submersion 3.’ Time, Imin. 14 -I-usee. .Scratched; Juliette, 'Field : Force, Pcrolina, Piennont, and AA'. Davies’ ..Field Battery colt. To AVaka Hack AVeltor.—Braelmrn 1, Lord Palmer 2, Borsil 3. Scratched: Awahon. Perhaps, and Dogfish. Time, Imin.. 29{sec. Easter Handicap.—Patriotic 1, Sea Queen 2, Ceylon 3. All started. AA’on all the way by a length. Time, Sminf 7 2-osec.
