MR. O’MALLEY’S VIEWS. ON PREFERENCE TO BRITAIN. By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 30, 9.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 20. Mr. O’Malley, referring to tho preference granted to British manufacturers supplying material for the transcontinental railway, declared: “If we have to pay 4000 per cent, preference we are prepared to do it. This country is the offspring of Britain and this Government had no regard for tariff consideration or other matters when it comes to the question of extending our relations with the Mother Country. The Australian Government baa no ill-feeling against manufacturers of other countries; all tho same it will pay a thousand per cent, or even more to get thifigs made where our own flesh and blood will reap the benefit.”
