TERRITORIAL NOTES.

(By “Scout.”)

The local companies will parade at the Drill Hall to-morrow afternoon, at 1.115, for the purpose of proceeding to the training camp at Hawera. All kits must bo at the Drill Hall at 1.15, and those men who are absent from the camp without leave will be proceeded against under the Defence Act.

New uniforms have arrived and are being distributed. On inspection thereof one learns many things—there a.re various shades of khaki, and wo’ve gob ’em all. The uniforms have in many cases been built with a view to futurity. Some of the pants only need splitting down a bit and they could be buttoned over the shoulders and serve for vests as well as trousers. Others, again, provide for such accidents as “slipped chest” : until that develops the wearer can pull them round twice and so save a cholera belt. Many other savings could also be effected if tho wearers wore only fully seized with a spirit of adaptability with a view to economy. Yet they grumble and say awful things. Some people are never happy!
