Mr. Taft, replying to Mr. Roosevelt, stigmatised those who are advocating the recall of judges or judges’ decisions as insincere demagogues, acting on insufficient knowledge of the constitution. When they realised that impious hands were likely to be laid on the *ark of tho covenant all sober-thinking people would protest.
