CRUSHED BY A FALLING CASE

Edward John Harvey, 60 years of ago. died at the hospital this afternoon from injuries received last Monday, when he was jammed against a verandah post through a case slipping from a lorry. Harvey was caeually employed by the Colonial Carrying Company. An inquest takes place to-morrow. SUDDEN DEATH. BLENHEIM, Doc. 15. The death of James Hutchison, aged 54, an old resident, occurred unexpectedly yesterday afternoon. He lay down on his bed in the afternoon and was shortly after found dead. SETTLER KILLED. TIMARII, Dec. 15. A. Frisby, settler at Milford, was driving to Terauka on Saturday when his horse bolted and ran into another trap. Tho occupants of both were thrown out. James Craig, shipwright, was the victim of a serious accident while working on the Pnparoa at Port Chalmers today. As he was ascending the hatchway ladder at dinner time, a wooden hatch cover fell from the deck and struck him on tho head, his skull being badly fractured. He was removed to the cottage hospital in a critical condition. Craig is a widower, 54 years of age, and has a family of five or six. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. WELLINGTON, Dec. 15. Leonard Pearce, a married man, 25 years old, attempted to commit suicide to-day by cutting his throat. After being attended to by Dr. Clay he was removed to the hospital.
