THE DIFFICULTIES OF MISSIONARIES. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received Oct. 27, 9i20 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 27. Mr. Reid, a missionary from the New Hebrides, states that there is considerable friction between French and British settlers in the islands. T*ho French dislike the missionaries for their work in evangelising the natives, and put obstacles in their way, and have denied them the privilege of holding services on French lands. Native labour is scarce, and Mr. Reid accuses the French of securing such labourers by giving them grog.
