ACTION IN AUCKLAND. Per Press Association AUCKLAND,. Oct. 26. When tbe Harbour Board WHS passing accounts for payment this,afternoon Mr. Brndney’drew atteUtibn to an item, coal £llßs'ss Id* and a similar Supplementary, account 'for £47S Iks. He remarked'that .that was an unusually heavy coal bill fob a ’fortnight. A very largo quantity of coal* 800 tons in one'shipment and 500 .tons in another, had been landed at tlie Calliope Dock, and ho demanded to he told by what authority that coal had .been bought. The Chairman (Air,- . Entrican) said the coal had , been ordered on his autlaority some, time ag0.... There were indications of a very serious coal strike being and people in close touch with the coal trade took the opportunity to day in large stocks so that they, would not be taken Unawares. It was, a very good thing to have a stock of 1200 tons or so of coal m hand. There would be very little deterioration in Newcastle coal. In this matter ho thought a Wist! step had been taken. 1
